LoadingDoctoral inquiry into Islamic economics as policy files—not a mufti or central-bank appointment.
Online only

Islamic economics as a doctoral field fails when literature reviews repeat slogans. This PhD starts with a question that can be answered with files: zakat institutions, waqf labour, Islamic capital-market disclosure, or employment policy under localisation. English and academic Arabic are both in play because the sources are. Supervision expects honest boundaries: this university is not the League of Arab States, not a central bank, and not a fake accreditor. You will defend methods, handle bilingual corpora, and write for examiners who will reject LAS-logo theatre. The award is a research doctorate. It is not a practising economist licence and not UN employment. It is for scholars who must keep Islamic economic claims accountable to evidence when ministries have already printed Vision targets. You will defend methods on a bilingual corpus, keep mufti and central-bank claims out of the thesis title, and treat Vision 2030 targets as data rather than as a partnership this university holds. Maghreb, Levant, and GCC institutions are empirical fields. Tuition-free online doctoral study still uses identity-checked assessment. No LAS, AU, UN, or bank logos in the photo brief.
Sixty credits, three to four years: research training, field literature, bilingual thesis craft, and a doctoral capstone. Identity-checked assessment. Tuition-free online. No central-bank, mufti, or LAS logos.

Modules are assessed through a published mix of coursework, applied projects, and examinations. Exam windows are announced in advance so students in other time zones are not forced into overnight sittings. Alternative arrangements are available where documented.
The published duration is 3–4 years. Teaching language: English and Arabic (bilingual assessment; academic Arabic required for AR-medium tracks). Actual time-to-complete depends on mode and any recognised prior learning.
This is a fully online award. You study from your country. No student visa and no campus relocation are required.
Degree tuition for this award is published as £0 / tuition-free on the online pathway. Examination or administrative fees may apply at checkout — never an annual tuition invoice. Check the Fees page for any extras.
Requirements are grouped on this page (academic, English, documents, research). Equivalent qualifications are considered. English may be waived after prior English-medium study.
Assessment is typically a mix of coursework, projects, and examinations. Doctoral awards include a thesis or dissertation and an oral examination. Details sit in the programme specification and module outlines.
Recognition of the award for local employment, professional licence, or ministry attestation is decided by your employer or regulator. Arab Leadership University publishes verification pages for certificates. We do not claim automatic equivalence in every country.
